In retirement, Roger joined the Board of the Popular Flying Association in 2004, became Chairman in 2005 and has only recently relinquished this post to become its President. He set about modernising and revitalising the PFA, rebranding it as the Light Aircraft Association (LAA), turning round its finances and strengthening its governance. He also formed the UK General Aviation Alliance, as a partnership to represent their common interests. He became its Facilitator, thereby working on behalf of nine member sports aviation bodies (representing 72,000 subscription paying members in the UK). This, in turn led to his election as the Chairman of the General Aviation Strategic Forum, thus aiding both the Authority and the general aviation community. Looking further afield, he formed, and was elected President of, the European Federation of Light, Experimental and Vintage Aircraft (EFLEVA) to represent the interests of 12 associations in 11 European nations on matters of regulation at European level. Under his leadership EFLEVA is a thriving organisation with real traction in representing the interests of its members to the EU Commission and EASA
