Peter is a retired engineer and pilot devoting his time to a unique project to raise awareness of Sustainable Development initiatives with his Three Journeys Round project in his Robinson R66 helicopter G-DIGA whilst raising funds for Save the Children and Motivation charities.
Peter has three specific objectives to his Three Journeys Round, namely:
• To meet local community leaders whose stories can inspire others to make their individual difference to sustainable development.
• To showcase these successes worldwide.
• To raise money for remarkable organisations making a difference.
In 2016 on the first of his Journeys Round, Peter became the first person to fly round Africa solo in a VFR helicopter through 23 different countries to complete a journey around Africa of about 16,600nm in 73 days, setting three world records.
He flew the second in 2017 with Matthew Gallacher and they travelled east around the world through 42 countries taking 121 days and covering about 32,000 miles, 11,600 of them over water, setting another five world records.
The third Journey Round started on 2nd December through Latin America and Peter is flying with US national, Robin Doten.
Peter has been privileged to witness much of the world’s geography at first hand, visiting by helicopter locations few ever do. His pioneering world journeys, compelling and courageous in equal measure, have set new records and are of considerable interest to explorers and geographers worldwide. Importantly, Peter is now sharing his findings through the Internet and via a series of published articles and lectures.
