Steve is an enthusiastic amateur pilot who has owned and maintained a number of vintage light aircraft. Of particular note is the BE2C replica he shares with Matt Boddington, which they repatriated from the US in a very sorry state and restored to pristine flying condition. It’s no surprise, therefore, that Steve has been a member of the Vintage Aircraft Club for 14 years, serving as its Chairman for the last five, until his recent appointment as CEO of the Light Aircraft Association. As Chairman he greatly raised the profile of the VAC. He is a Liveryman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators, is very active within the Historic Aircraft Association in the PR role, and has also worked tirelessly for the General Aviation Awareness Council, offering advice to airfield owners on such issues as protection from wind farm development and planning matters.
