John Jacomb has been a major player in FAI Space Modelling and Model Rocketry in the UK for nearly twenty years. He is currently Chairman of the British Model Flying Association’s FAI Rocketry Group.
For the past five years John has been the driving force behind the United Kingdom Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge (UKAYRoC), a national Schools and Youth Group model rocketry event. Based on the USA’s Team America Rocketry Challenge, the UKAYRoC has introduced hundreds of young people to model flying since its introduction to the UK some 8 years ago. The UKAYRoC Finals have also featured on local and national television. At local level John takes responsibility for leading his county’s campaign persuading Essex County Council to sponsor entries from over 60 schools. He personally coaches Essex students in model building and flying techniques and has negotiated use of a former WWI aerodrome and museum as a flying site.
John is a progressive thinker, instructor, model maker and international flyer with a gift for bringing differing personalities together and getting them to pull in the same direction.
