A former Paratrooper in the British Army, John started Sport Skydiving in the 1970s. He survived a life-threatening accident and fought back to fitness, became a Club Chief Instructor himself and then a full-time employee of the British Parachute Association (BPA) in 1983 as National Coach and Safety Officer.
John served the International Parachuting Commission (IPC) as Delegate or Alternate Delegate to for 34 years, retiring in 2017. He has also served on a number of FAI committees 30 years, including 16 as Chair or Vice Chair.
John believes in the IPC. It was always more than just a job, it was a vocation and with an immense sense of duty he dedicated himself to IPC
