At the age of 17, Joel is already twice UK Advanced Champion in glider aerobatics, holder of the 2018 Open Championship title and this year represented the UK in the 9th FAI World Advanced Glider Championship in Zbraslavice, Czech Republic.
From his first steps in gliding at Pocklington at the age of 14, Joel has shown an outstanding dedication to advancing in his sport. With his focus now on aerobatics, he is determined to reach the very highest ranks and has already attracted favourable comment from past World Champions. Next year he will compete for the first time at Unlimited, with a view to challenging for the world title in Romania.
Joel has shown great initiative in raising funds to help with his training, approaching local businesses for sponsorship and promoting the sport on local radio. His personable approach, underpinned by a clear determination to succeed, is also a key factor in the dynamic of our international team
