It has very largely been due to Jim that the whole National model flying site project has become feasible. He has been very heavily involved in the hard work connected with the location and selection of more than 200 potential National flying sites. His design of a matrix in which numerous factors of a site (e.g. nearness to major roads, size, existence of main drainage, proximity of other airfields etc.) are each assigned a rating figure has enabled the overall potential of each site to be compared. He has visited many of the sites, spoken to landowners, local authorities, planning and funding consultants and put in an enormous amount of work that will be invaluable in the eventual acquisition of a National Model Flying Centre. His drive and enthusiasm have been crucial to the project.
