Jen epitomises the selfless dedication of the many volunteers required to keep air sports running and ensuring the smooth organisation of contests. She came to competition aerobatics as the wife of an enthusiastic competitor and is now well-established at the heart of the international sport, with nearly thirty years’ service to the British Aerobatic Association.
A former nurse, Jen brings a no-nonsense approach to the way she organises the annual contest calendar, working tirelessly with airfield management and staff around the country to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place. She then manages the membership programme and all contest entries to ensure that every competitor is current, safe to compete and most importantly has paid the due fees. For the majority of domestic contests Jen takes the role of Registrar and Scorer, ensuring that the contest paperwork is professionally managed and maintained in accordance with the Rules. She collates and validates all score sheets, runs the scoring programme and the publication of results and adjudicates fairly where there is a dispute. In between she finds time to feed and water the judging teams with her fabled home baking and lemonade.
Married to Nick, President of CIVA, the Aerobatic Commission, Jen also fulfils a vital role in representing the UK in the international air sports arena, both in supporting Nick’s formal CIVA and FAI engagements and as a very competent international judge’s assistant. She is well respected throughout the community and has made many international friends for the UK.
