Brian has been the Competition Director at the past seven national gliding competitions run by Cotswold Gliding Club at Aston Down.
Planning and preparation starts months before a competition with Brian devoting a great deal of spare time to meetings and correspondence: overseeing and coordinating the recruiting of volunteers for task setting, meteorology, airspace and all the myriad tasks involved and ensuring the availability of all the many items of equipment required.
In the last two years Brian has encouraged design and implementation of IT applications developed by a Cotswold GC member to assist with competition administration, considerably reducing the volunteer effort required. In addition, Brian has been for many years an active instructor and an instructor coach. He has achieved distinction in his own competition flying as a member of the British Team in the 2017 European Championships.
