Bob King

Bob King

Bob remains one of the lesser-sung heroes of British Parachuting, whose sustained commitment over 55 years to date is as strong as it was on his first jump. He made that first jump back in 1963 and has maintained an unfailing interest and involvement in the sport ever since.

e has attended 30 FAI World Parachuting Championships and 42 British National Championships in Style and Accuracy either as a Competitor, Judge, Event Judge or Chief Judge. He has won no less than 9 medals in national competitions. He was also presented with a Silver Plate donated by The Daily Telegraph for his competitive achievements in 1971. Bob King was the Rhine Army Parachute Association Open Accuracy Champion in 1971, 1973, 1975 and was allowed to keep RAPA Daily Telegraph Trophy after he had won it three times. Not surprisingly, it was replaced with the Bob King Trophy for Accuracy.

Bob has donated his own personal judging software which is still used by Style & Accuracy judges today. Bob is one of the most highly regarded FAI Judges in the world. He has built up this reputation and expertise over many decades of loyal service. He is also held in high esteem by the competitors, having earned their respect over the years and always making time to explain decisions to them even in the middle of a World Meet.
