Tim served in the RAF and British Aerospace as an electronics technician. He gained a private pilot’s licence in 1977 and before retirement started building a Europa kit aircraft which he first flew in 2002 by which time he had just 90 hours flying experience. Since then, despite his low hours, he has flown it widely and adventurously over Europe and the UK, visiting 13 countries and accumulating a further 850 hours in the process. Part of his flying has been to give Scouts air experience at a series of Scouts’ air camps held at Croft Farm, Defford. In total he has flown 27 scouts and several of their leaders.
He was a founder member of the Gloster branch of the Light Aircraft Association and took on responsibility for producing their monthly newsletter. He and his wife licked over a hundred stamps and envelopes each month before the welcome introduction of selfadhesive version
