David has been a very effective CEO of the BMFA since 2005 and a successful Secretary of the RAeC since 2009.
Since 2011 he has filled the demanding post of Nationals co-ordinator for the annual BMFA Power National Championships, the largest aviation event of its type in Europe.
In 2015 he was appointed to Europe Air Sports, working to minimise the impact of drone regulations on model flying throughout Europe. His work has involved numerous high-level meetings across Europe over the last three years and in 2017 he became President of the newly formed European Model Flying Union.
David’s calm, methodical and dedicated approach, and his multi-tasking skills, have produced excellent results at European level. Much of his recent work has been focused on ensuring that the UK Government and CAA correctly interpret new European regulations without undue detriment to the established model flying community and this work is ongoing. His involvement, far beyond the original scope of his post, includes the successful day-to-day management of the BMFA over a critical period that included the acquisition of a National Flying Centre. It has been a truly outstanding performance.
