David has taking part in national and international helicopter competition for nearly 20 years and currently leads the British team. He has introduced a crowd-facing competition format which has raised its popularity and is widely used today.
This concept has become increasingly popular with the most recent event in 2017 showcasing the brand-new FAI Cat 2 Helicopter World Cup and the hosting of the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom’s prestigious Queens Cup Air Race, the first time it had been awarded to rotorcraft. He currently serves in multiple rôles both nationally and internationally relating to helicopter competition. Building on his success with air races, David is now going west to take the concept to the United States of America to begin a new world class transatlantic race series.
Due to his commitment and ability to think outside the box, David has become synonymous with helicopter sport flying and is at the forefront of future development.
